How Will the Relay Work?

Each team consists of 3-8 runners.  The first runner takes off from the start and heads to Transition Point #1.  When Runner #1 gets to Transition Point #1, he/she hands off the slap bracelet to Runner #2 who heads to the next Transition Point.  Runner #1 then stretches, puts on dry clothes and hops in the team vehicle.  The team vehicle heads to Transition #2, to meet Runner #2 for the next hand-off.  This process continues until all runners have run one leg of the race.  Then the rotation begins again, and Runner #1 starts the 2nd rotation.  This rotation continues until the team reaches the finish line in Savannah.

Each Transition Point is between 3-8 miles apart.  Transition Points will be marked by an orange traffic cone with reflective bands at the top that has a RUN FOR THE HEROES sign sticking out the top of the cone.  Use the Relay Transition List as a guide for specific directions and location of each Transition.
