An exciting start to the Saturday morning in Ft Benning with four relay teams aggressively attacking the Race across Georgia to Savanaah for the Run for The Heroes. Two teams neck and neck battling for the lead have crossed through Ellaville around noon. The teams are ReSet, a local running group, and Crusher Company, one of the two military teams. Ellaville is about 55 miles from the morning start. Next through was Team ODP, another military team followed by Columbus Roadrunners, also a local running group. Soon the relay teams will catch up to the indiviual runners along the way to Savannah. First to encouter will be Summer and Justin who are in or beyond Hawkinsville. Next on the route are fellow Air Force runners Jon and Mark beyond Hawkinsville and onto Eastman. Scott is the next invidiual runner to catch who is past Eastman and onto Vidalia. Last John, race inventor, who is well past Vidalia and onto Collins. John has less than 70 miles to reach Savannah.
Race details, signage, support are being handled by Susan Gerkin and Carol Fonville and many other HOH volunteers. It's an exciting and amazing way to start the Memorial Day weekend.
